Peterhead travel to Bayview Stadium this Saturday for a William League One encounter with East Fife, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
Both sides have made a solid start to life in League One after securing promotion from League Two last season. The Blue Toon currently sit sixth in the table on 23 points, while Dick Campbell’s East Fife side are two points better off in fifth.
The most recent meeting between the clubs saw Peterhead come out on top in emphatic fashion, claiming a 4–1 victory. Goals from David Wilson, Kieran Shanks, and a brace from captain Jason Brown sealed a memorable win in the first game of the new season at Balmoor.
From Jordon Brown: “It seems a good point to have a reflection of where we are at as a lot of time has passed since we last played East Fife away and positively it highlights the steps we have taken on our journey as we aim to have the club competing at the top end of league One. It was probably the best 0-0 we have been involved in when we fought it out down there in February and it became a catalyst for the title push as we approached the key months of the season. It of course ended with both clubs being promoted and we haven’t been surprised at all with the successes East Fife have had in the league, especially at home where they have a great record. We are also hoping tomorrow we can take the momentum we finished last week with and start a fresh run in what will be a crucial period for us if we want to be pushing the top end of the league in the second half of the season.
We were absolutely delighted last weekend and felt it was a well deserved three points in the end considering the conditions and setbacks we faced throughout the 90 mins and summed up the close-knit character and resilience of the group and squad as a whole to come out the other side with three points having played with ten men. The adaptability the guys showed pre- match and then within the game was so pleasing and it is something we need to be on top of again as we prepare for tomorrow and another difficult away task.
East Fife are a team we know a lot about but have watched both their games this week which resulted in brilliant outcomes for them. Although both teams look to be hit with some injuries, we have worked really hard on preparation and will look to execute that tomorrow. It’s the last one before Xmas so the guys are eager to sign off on a positive and I am sure we will have a good following down to Methil too as previously that has helped push the guys on with the away section being so close to the dugout and pitch.
Injury wise we were gutted last weekend as just when we thought we were getting close to having a full squad available and key players all on the right track, unfortunately we once again had pretty big setbacks. Pete’s importance was shown in both games this week and was a timely reminder of his exceptional quality and experience that helps us all play how we want to play however he will now go for a scan on his knee and we all have everything crossed for a positive outcome. Cammy will miss a couple of weeks and we will monitor closely as it is a hamstring injury, again frustrating particularly after he had scored an excellent goal. Flynn will serve his suspension so it is now up to the guys who came on last week to show consistency. Adam and Dunney are improving week on week and we are now well into the process of evaluating how January and beyond looks in terms of continuing to build and improve the squad”.
