Peterhead make the short trip South on Saturday to face Montrose at Links Park in William Hill league Two.
It’s the first time Peterhead have faced the Gable Endies in the league since April 2023 when the Blue Toon fell to a 2-1 defeat in a season that saw them relegated to the bottom division. It’s a much changed team since Ryan and Jordon took the helm and after a good win over their neighbours Cove last week, they will be looking for another three points against a Stuart Petrie side that have had a mixed start to the league campaign, currently sitting in ninth spot in the table.
From Jordon Brown: “Tomorrow is another almost local challenge that the whole squad and it seems the whole fan base are looking forward to. It’s been a couple of years since we visited in the league and can’t wait now. We go into this one off the back of another Challenge Cup game but it was an encouraging performance and result in a game we again managed to rotate the squad and were able to share out some good minutes.
These shared minutes are allowing match sharpness and competition within the squad to continue to be built and everyone that is available tomorrow is ready to make an impact on the game, whether that will be from the start or as a sub, which this season we have already seen good outputs from guys coming off the bench. We have said numerous times this will be a key factor to us achieving success this season.
The key for us tomorrow is looking to target that first away win and continue to build on the momentum we have gained across the 2 results this week. The performance and result against Cove was excellent and even going back to the East Fife one we have shown our home form to be good so it is looking to replicate that into an away performance and result. We know this is not easy and no matter what team we are playing, full time or part time, away results are harder to come by with the competitiveness of the league. However, that is the challenge for us tomorrow to show we have learned and improved from the 2 away games so far, against a really established and experienced Montrose team who outwith last season have been up the top of end of this division for the majority of their long spell in this league.
As mentioned, it is great to see the fans are coming down in their numbers and we hope to be able to give them their rewards for that with a positive result on this new surface at Montrose tomorrow, we expect it to be a good atmosphere and this extra bit of support is always great to see and can help us get that extra percentages we may need to get over the line.
Squad wise we have David Wilson and Arran Smith back fully ready to go after their injuries and illness, both were on bench Tuesday and not quite ready but have trained again Thursday. Pete is long term and now recovering from successful surgery. Jason will miss tomorrow again with the concussion protocols but is building himself up daily and itching to return. Dunney is improving working closely with Donal and we are just taking each day as it comes as we hope for some positive steps forward with him as he is a big part of our team”.
