Clyde are the visitors to Balmoor tomorrow as Peterhead go into the third match of four in the Premier Sports Cup group phase.
Darren Young’s team are familiar foes as the Blue Toon faced them four times last season and have been league bed-fellows for a number of years leading to a healthy rivalry between the two sides.
Although Peterhead were defeated against Motherwell on Tuesday evening, it was a battling performance and they were very unlucky not take the match to penalties after a 91st minute goal sealed the victory for the hosts. Clyde went one better when they faced up to the Premier League side at home as they claimed a valuable point leaving them sitting third in the Group H table while the Blue Toon sit fourth.
From Assistant Manager Jamie McNee: “After a really positive reaction on Tuesday following an extremely disappointing start, I think we’re all looking forward to a competitive game against a club who have been consistently at the same level as us over the past few years.
Whilst playing full time clubs between the Premiership and Championship is always a nice challenge, it’s good to see where our own levels are up against clubs similar to what we will face for the rest of the season.
Clyde are off the back of their own positive performance against Motherwell so they’ll be as enthusiastic about Saturday’s game as we are!
We will have a strong focus on ensuring we’re doing the basics right from the start, showing Clyde the respect they deserve, while really trying to implement our own game in possession”.
