Peterhead head to Forthbank on Saturday to face Stirling Albion in William Hill League 2 with a 3pm KO.
Alan Maybury’s team are unbeaten in three and currently sit in sixth place in League Two chasing a promotion place.
The last three meetings between the two teams this season have seen the Blue Toon come out on top taking all nine points, however they have been close affairs with only one goal separating the two teams in each of the three encounters. Peterhead sit joint top and will be looking for a win to maintain the pressure on East Fife who sit atop the league summit on goal difference.
From Jordon Brown: “We look forward to another exciting fixture at a ground that for me is one of the best in the lower leagues. It is clearly a very exciting time and is gearing up to be a brilliant conclusion to the season that we are sure will be full of highs and lows for everyone with it all to play for. It is really important we stay really focused and concentrated on each game as they come and continue to maintain the high standards we have shown since really the turn of the year. We have a pride in that record and whilst we have risen to the top end of the league, we still are not where we want to be and to be at the very top we know we must keep on winning games. With being in the top 2 and a title race comes a different pressure that we have encouraged the whole squad to embrace and enjoy, and so far we have managed that although it will clearly intensify as the weeks go on. It also comes with a target as one of the teams to beat, particularly playing against Stirling who themselves are pushing for play offs and yet to get a result against us this season so have extra motivation. We must show that we have greater motivation to at least stay level at the top of the league.
They will not be underestimated despite the results this season, we have had our usual analysis and on pitch sessions this week to help prepare for the challenge. As mentioned before, they are a team and squad that have a good mix, some top quality players who have hurt us before and have strengthed since January, and believe they could easily be a top 4 team who have had big results recently especially at home.
Team news we are pretty much as we were, Jamie Walker has trained after being ill, Caleb has trained after a hand issue last Saturday, Shanks is back from suspension and we will make a late decision on Pete who is desperate to be back involved and working hard off the pitch. A real positive is Ben Armour is ahead of schedule, he trained locally on Thursday and we may have him available for the final 6 games.
Lastly, it is great to see there looks to be a strong Blue Toon following travelling down and this will give us all that extra small percentage that could be all the difference to ensure we come home with the result we all want. Recent atmospheres at Balmoor have been excellent and it is a big factor in us trying to keep this momentum and good feeling going to fulfil the clubs potential and ambitions!”
