Spartans v Peterhead

Jan 24, 2025

Peterhead head to Ainslie Park tomorrow to face the Spartans in William Hill League 2 with a 3pm KO.

The Spartans come into this match following a midweek 2-2 draw at Bonnyrigg Rose and have had a stop-start beginning to 2025 with cancelled fixtures meaning that they currently have 3 games still to play.

The Blue Toon have had a winning start to the year with 3 wins in 3 and will be looking to maintain that form when they take on Dougie Samuel’s men in Edinburgh.

From Ryan Strachan: “What a week last week was, 3 games, maximum points and 2 new signings. It feels like we’ve had the week off this week. If only…. The group have been hard at work and we got a good session under our belts on Wednesday night together where we got to work on some things and embed our new signings into the way we train.

Spartans are a team we have immense respect for, games are always close and they have some players we really admire. Yes their current campaign hasn’t gone how they would have imagined but they’re now starting to present better form.

For us it’s about taking the good parts we’ve shown recently and implementing them again whilst improving in the areas we feel we need to in order to get success tomorrow. Spartans is a very difficult place to get a result so we will need all players bang at it from the start. We hope the weather turns for the better so it doesn’t jeopardise or ruin the match as both teams are good footballing sides.

Squad wise for this time of year we are relatively healthy. Seb Ross and Pete Pawlett come back into the match day squad. Jamie Walker continues to build fitness. We’re delighted with the way Olly has settled in and the impact he’s made whilst building match fitness, he will be looking to get a goal for the good work he’s put in recently when he gets his chance.
Ben Armour will be missing for a number of weeks and months after recurring ankle injury resulted in clean up surgery. Jordan Armstrong misses the match due to family bereavement”.
