Edinburgh City v Peterhead

Jan 10, 2025

Peterhead head to Medowbank Stadium on Saturday to face Edinburgh City in William Hill League 2 with a 3pm KO.

Edinburgh City have been on a good run and are currently sitting in a play-off spot in the league table, however Michael McIndoe’s men fell to a 4-2 defeat to the league leaders East fife on Wednesday night and will be looking to bounce back tomorrow. Their star striker Connor Young is on a rich vein of form and sits top of the table on League 2 goals with 17 to his name having scored 2 again on Wednesday night, it will be up to the Blue Toon to keep him quiet as they look forward to getting back on the pitch after last’s week’s fixture fell foul to the icy weather.

From Ryan Strachan: “ It’s back to league action tomorrow after a frustrating cancellation last week. It feels like a stop start festive period with games and training cancelled sporadically throughout. Hopefully we can now settle into a rhythm with games away to come thick and fast.

Tomorrow Edinburgh will be a really difficult test as every single game in this league always is, especially away from home. The last time we visited we got a fantastic performance and result. The same could also be said about our home match recently against them where we were arguably as good as we’ve been in a game and lost 3-2. That shows their attacking threat and the leagues top scorer also got a double during the week against East Fife so we will need to be focussed every minute of the game tomorrow. For us, it’s about returning to good habits that’s seen us consistently compete and give us a chance to win games. Hopefully the weather prevails and we get a chance to start a busy period with a positive outcome.

Team news; Cammy Smith has upped the intensity at training again and hopefully can be available this week at some point. Cieran Dunne is suspended so misses out. Ben Armour picked up another ankle injury in training which adds to his frustrations. Jordan Armstrong and Scott Ross have both recovered from an eye and knee injury respectively and join the squad. The positive news this week for our squad is Olly Colloty is available after months of tireless training and he and us should be excited about his Balmoor career kickstarting”.
