Peterhead head to Station Park on Tuesday 17th December for the rearranged William Hill League 2 fixture v Forfar Athletic that was cancelled in November due to a waterlogged pitch.
Forfar currently sit 10th in the league however they come into this game on the back of an impressive 5-1 win against Bonnyrigg Rose on Saturday.
The Blue Toon also impressed in their last match with a 1-0 win against the league leaders leaving them joint top with a game in hand.
From Co-Manager Ryan Strachan: So glad to finally get some reward for the effort the players have put in over the last few weeks. We’ve quite clearly played better this season with no reward than we did Saturday with maximum reward. However we can’t deflect that the teams defensive performance from the front was strong, we made contact in right areas and really prevented East Fife to little apart from late on when they threw players forward and balls into the box. I thought we stood up to the physical battle very well for being such a small side. We know as a team we have good footballers and will create chances but a lot of our goals recently against us have been preventable, we spoke about this a lot and it was highly encouraging to see what we spoke about performed in the game. It shows us the group’s willingness to listen and improve. The message will be very similar going into Tuesday versus Forfar, we will need exact same focus and approach to come away with anything. Forfar are physically empowering and have picked up recently. It’s a game that excites us under the lights and it’s good to get games in, more games means the chance to gain more points. We have some visibly tired bodies in the dressing room so we are constantly in touch to see how the boys are physically. 3 games in a week will be demanding so we must look to see what’s best for team and in best condition to repeat the high energy levels from Saturday.
Team news, Jason brown has served his one match suspension and is available. Cammy Smith is getting ever closer and stepped up his intensity on Saturday. Scott Ross will miss out as will Jordan Armstrong who picked up an eye injury during the week in training. Oliver Colloty is only a few weeks from joining the squad for match days and is training very well.
