Peterhead, on the back of a good run of three consecutive wins, were anxious to continue their momentum however the game started in the worst fashion. Edinburgh City were awarded an early penalty for an alleged foul just outside the 6 yard box. Connor Young took it and sent McKenzie the wrong way.
Chances for both sides came and went before Peterhead were awarded a penalty after Pawlett was fouled. Dylan Forrest stepped up, 3 minutes before half time and scored his first goal for the club. Edinburgh City had a different plan as they got their noses back in front to adjust everyone’s half time team talk. Dylan Forrest lost the ball in midfield which let Young race in and slide the ball cooly past McKenzie.
Second half it was all Peterhead. The pressure was growing after a Seb Ross shot which the keeper did well to save. Then Jack Brown had a try, his shot hitting the post. It was looking like lady luck wasn’t on our side. The equalizer came in the 56th minute when good running down the left hand side from Dunne who fed the ball to Seb Ross who finished well with a fantastic curling shot into the net.
Peterhead almost got their noses in front but his shot inside the area was adjudged to be offside. Then the killer blow arrived 6 minutes from the end. Scott Ross failed to deal with Young, the ball bounced and he hit it from 19 yards past McKenzie. It was a bitter blow to the home side with all the pressure they had they should have been able to secure the points in this game.
