Peterhead faced the long journey South to Stranraer and came away with a point. Last season we faced two defeats at the hands of the Blues and it was Jordon and Ryan’s intention to go one better and get a victory but found it difficult against a stuffy Stranraer side who battled for every ball.
The team started well forcing a few corners in succession and they were unlucky not to go ahead when and early chance for Max Barry flew past the post. Stranraer started the get a foothold in the game and created a number of chances with Matty Grant looking dangerous. He watched as his half chance was collected neatly by Stuart McKenzie. Play then swung in the visitors favour as The Blue Toon took control and began to dominate and force play into the opposing half. Cammy Smith came close but his shot was well saved.
The second half was played in similar fashion as both teams brought on substitutions to try and change the play, however it was not to be as chances went begging at either end. The game may not live long in the memory of fans, as much of the ball was spent bobbling along the middle of the field. In a race to the finish line Stranraer saw an Ecrepont cross just missing the feet of the advancing Ryan Edgar and then at the other end a Max Barry corner saw the ball well cleared by the Blues defence.
Peterhead will look forward now to Saturday with the visit of Lochee United to Balmoor Stadium.
