Stranraer v Peterhead

Oct 18, 2024

Peterhead make the long trip South again tomorrow as they head to Stair Park to face Stranraer who currently sit 8th in League 2. The journey comes after a lengthy travel to Ayr last weekend meaning the team will have racked up 1000 miles in the course of a week to two tricky venues.

Hear from Co-Manager Ryan Strachan: “It’s back to league action this week after what felt like good timing to have a cup tie after a small blip in results. We are now refreshed and keen to push on into quarter two and aim for steady improvement starting tomorrow away to Stranraer. The Ayr match last week we managed to freshen the team up slightly and try out some new ideas. I thought to a man we were excellent last week and showed real character, fight and quality. With the smallest bit of luck on our side we may have progressed in the tie as we certainly had enough chances to score more. Credit to the squad for being so competitive at a team flying high in the full time ranks. Stranraer will possess a similar distance for us to travel on match day but will be a totally different game, we face a really tricky, fit, hungry and energetic team eager to impress their new management team. We have to be ready and willing to dig deep to get a result tomorrow as it’s a very difficult venue to play football and come away with maximum points.
Team news we are basically a clean bill of health; Kieran Shanks is now fully fit after last week and a friendly the week prior. Andy McCarthy returns to the squad after 6 weeks on the sidelines. Jordan Armstrong will miss out with an ankle injury picked up during the Elgin game and I am taking sometime out to strengthen my glute and lower back which has caused grief since our return to pre season”.
