The Blue Toon travel to Somerset Park tomorrow to take on Ayr United in the 4th round of the SPFL Trust Trophy with a 2pm KO.
Scott Brown’s side have made a good start to their league campaign with 5 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss which has them currently sitting in 2nd place making this a tough encounter for Peterhead who are also sitting in joint 2nd albeit two leagues below their Championship opponents.
The last encounter between the two sides was in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup at Balmoor in November 2023 where it took a goal in extra time for the visitors to progress to the next round with the final score 1-2.
From First Team Coach Jamie McNee: “We’re all looking forward to a great cup fixture against one of the most in-form teams outside the top division. We have a big pool of players all eager to get into the team and great options off the bench with who doesn’t make the starting 11. We’re all aware as a group that the results of the last 3 games have been below where we have set our expectations, however it’s important we’re all conscious to the fact that it has been a positive first quarter overall. We had a great cup fixture with Ayr last season where we conceded a late equaliser and then late again in extra time to lose at Balmoor, and I’m keen to see how we compete this time, albeit away from home and with them being under new management”.
