Tomorrow Peterhead welcome an unbeaten Elgin City to Balmoor for the first of our “Derby” days. Although this is the first time the two sides have met on league duty this season, the Blue Toon did come up against their Highland counterparts in the Premier Sports Cup where Peterhead ran out 4-2 winners with goals from Ben Armour, Caleb Goldie and a brace from Captain Jason Brown sealing the victory.
From Co-Manager Jordon Brown: “Like each week that comes, each game becomes more and more important and tomorrow against a team that are unbeaten going into the 9th game just shows how tough and competitive this league is. It is always a great game and one you look out for when fixtures come out.
We have obviously played them already this season which gives some familiarity but again with the speed of how quickly football changes and develops, tomorrow will be a totally different task.
With it being as close to a derby as we tend to get, hopefully the usual big crowd attends that we can then match with a performance and result to finish what has been a really positive first quarter. We speak a lot about quarters as breakdowns throughout the season and we have given ourselves a great chance to finish this first period of the season challenging at the top of the league where we want to be.
Last week did feel deflating in the sense we came into it off the back of our 1st defeat and then led twice and missed a penalty but it was our first dropped points at home so it’s important we react well tomorrow. We have worked hard again in training, are fully aware of the areas we need to improve on and we can’t wait to get back on the pitch again tomorrow.
Team news Rory returns, Danny has had a slight knock but should be fine and Shanks is very close, we will make a late call to whether he will be in the squad which is such a positive after losing him in our first competitive game in July on the back of a productive first full season for him. He’s itching to go along with Andy and credit to the guys behind the scenes such as Donal and Rebecca for their hard work with these 2 in particular. Andy is around 1-2 weeks away all going well”
