Peterhead v Clyde

Sep 27, 2024

Peterhead welcome 7th place Clyde Fc to Balmoor tomorrow with a 3pm KO.

Although still at the summit of the League 2 table on 16 points, the Blue Toon tasted their first defeat of the league campaign against East Fife last weekend so will be looking to rectify that on Saturday. Clyde come into this having not won an away match this season so will be keen to take all 3 points back down the road.

From Co-manager Ryan Strachan: “After a long week sitting on our first defeat of the new campaign, it has hopefully reinvigorated our bodies and minds to put in a positive performance this weekend against Clyde. Last week we suffered our first defeat in a largely competitive game, especially the first half. We created some good openings first half but failed to capitalise. Second half we didn’t really show our true selves and that was the disappointment. Lessons we can all learn from when chasing a game.

Tomorrow we host Clyde who haven’t amassed the points tally they will have wanted but in each of their games they have carried a threat and they have been close encounters. They have had a huge turnover in summer recruitment and brought in a high calibre of player so we are aware they will be a difficult opponent. We need to get back to how we have been for the majority of this season and play with that intensity that’s brought us early success in games. It’s been a good week’s training and the bodies now have to focus on getting a result Saturday.

Team news Andy McCarthy is out, he started running during the week which is positive. Kieran Shanks is getting ever closer to a full return and started training during the week but misses this one. Rory mcallister hasn’t recovered from the hamstring strain picked up last weekend. Cammy Smith returns after having his first baby last Saturday and I also return to duties having recovered from illness”.
