Peterhead v Stirling Albion

Sep 12, 2024

Peterhead are back to leage action this Saturday as they take on Stirling Albion at Balmoor with a 3pm KO.

A hopeful start to the League Two season means that the Ble Toon face Stirling Albion full of confidence and keen to use it as a platform to build at Balmoor Stadium.

Sitting atop the table on 13 points, a point ahead of East Fife through five matches, Peterhead won their last League Two match 4-0 at Meadowbank Stadium against Edinburgh City.

Stirling Albion defeated Spartans 1-0 at home in their last league match, putting them in third place on nine points.

The previous League Two fixture between the teams saw them play out a 1-1 draw at Balmoor Stadium in April 2019. Jack Leitch scored for Peterhead in the 37th minute. Peter MacDonald scored the lone goal for Stirling Albion in the 93rd minute.

From Co-manager Jordon Brown:

“We are all excited to be back at Balmoor in league action and hope the fans are also after such a positive week and start to the season for the club. We know this is a really difficult game against dangerous opponents who have just came down after a competitive season in League 1 and having won league 2 the season before. The next 4 weeks to finish off the first quarter are crucial to our season aspirations and after the break of the cup last week, there has been a big focus on this next period, starting tomorrow. There is a real good feeling around the club with the accolades handed out all week and it’s the type of positive progress and coverage that we are all striving for. For the first time since possibly we have been in charge, we had 22 players training on Wednesday and there is a real healthy competitive buzz throughout, which of course leaves us with some difficult selection decisions although ultimately like we showed last week we have full belief in each member of our squad when called upon. It is a great place to be in and we are fully aware how quick football can turn so the group is itching to get back out there and continue our consistency. Hopefully the fans can continue their brilliant support as the positivity does not go unnoticed within the squad. Shanks again stepped up his rehab during the week and it was great to see Andy for the first time since his awful injury 3 weeks ago but we won’t put a confirmed timeline on either of them at the moment.

Also a further note of condolences to Sheila and Norman’s family at such a sad time. She was also a memorable and lovely friendly figure throughout our time at the club, they’ll be missed but not forgotten.”
