The Blue Toon head South to the capital this Saturday as they take on The Spartans at Ainslie Park with a 3pm KO.
Peterhead are travelling on the back of another good win making it 3 on the bounce which has them sitting top of the League 2 table, the best start to a season since 20004. Although the Spartans are sitting 5th on 4 points, they have a game in hand due to missing a League match v Elgin City last week as they continued their Premier Sports Cup run with a historic win over Ross County seeing them in to the Quarter-Finals of the cup where they will take on Aberdeen FC.
From Ryan Strachan: “Another weekend, another game and it feels like we’re starting to get into routine after a bit of a whirlwind pre-season where everything felt like it was happening too quickly. We’re plodding along quite nicely and after 3 wins from 3 we couldn’t have asked for this group to bed into a team as well as they have. The entire squad have all brought a real competitive edge to our starting 11 and competition for places continues to hotten up.
This week we face a really tricky opposition but we have done a lot of work on our preparations to give ourselves the best chance. Great respect must be given off the back of some of their results but we must focus on us, our shape, our attitude and commitment to the game. The way we want to apply ourselves and the quality within our group must shine, if we apply ourselves in the manner we have done since pre-season, we will give ourselves a great opportunity. Anything less against an opponent of this quality and you will pay.
Team-wise, we’re reasonably ok this week – Pete Pawlett will face a late fitness test, Caleb remains out, Ben and David Wilson are ok for minutes. Scott Ross has missed the entire week ill and likely won’t travel. Kieran Shanks started running during the week which is a massive positive for him and the team”.
