Peterhead head South to New Dundas Park tomorrow, Saturday 3rd August to face Bonnyrigg Rose in the opener of the William Hill League 2 campaign with a 3pm KO.
The two teams are now more familiar with each other having met in the league for the first time last season with three of the four matches ending in draws until Peterhead broke the stalemate with a 2-1 win over the Rose in what was the Blue Toon’s first home win of the 23/24 season.
From co-Manager Jordon Brown:
“The buzz of league football is back and as a squad we cannot wait to get started again. We are determined to continue to improve on last seasons campaign but are under no illusions how competitive the league will be this year and this is highlighted by our opponents on Saturday, a tricky venue and a team who we shared 4 close games with last season. We go into the season looking to bring the positivity built throughout the hard work put in during pre season and the League cup games, which overall a 3rd place finish with the level of teams in the group was a plus. Of course there is loads to improve on at this stage and we must try to build some early confidence and momentum in the league, particularly as we again have had a turnover in players that has given the squad a freshness so it is important they gel quickly. We are confident in the strength in depth throughout the squad that everyone will have an impact with competition for places high.
Team news-wise, Ben has trained after missing out last weekend with a knock and Andy returns from suspension. Shanks will be out for the foreseeable but has already started sessions with the physio. Jason serves his 1 game ban from the end of last season but there should be a number of league debutants for the fans to see and all going well Cammy should also make the squad after signing yesterday”.
