Peterhead head to Easter Road tomorrow, Saturday 27th July for their remaining Premier Sports Cup tie with a 3pm KO.
There are 3 teams in joint top position in Group C with Hibs, Queens Park and Peterhead all on 6 points albeit with Peterhead sitting third on goal difference.
The two sides have not met since 2006 when Peterhead headed South to take on the Edinburgh side in the 2nd round of the CIS Insurance Cup which ended in the hosts winning 4-0 with goals from Benjelloun, Scott Brown, McCluskey and a Peterhead og.
From Ryan Strachan: “The big one is here, the glamorous tie – the one the players and supporters have all had their eyes on and it’s come at a good time off the back of back-to-back wins.
Confidence within the group is slowly growing, the ideas are also getting across and the lads have now executed two fine performances against good opposition. We, as a club are under no illusion that the task ahead is monstrous but we’ve given ourselves a glimmer of hope and a small fighting chance.
It’s an exciting tie that for lower league teams doesn’t always come around so we will look to put our best foot forward and show everyone in attendance that we are a good side that still have loads of room to improve.
From Tuesday’s match, the players have all come out relatively unscathed which is good, Andy will serve a one match suspension and Ben Armour is a doubt.
Hopefully we can take a lot of the positives from Tuesday into tomorrow’s match where we were quite solid as a team and looked a threat any time on the counter. If ever there was a chance for players to rise to an occasion and gain some confidence and also hold onto their jersey for the start of the league campaign it will be tomorrow”.
