Peterhead take on Elgin City in the Premier Sports Cup tomorrow, Saturday 20th July with a 3pm KO.
The last meeting between the two sides produced a 1-1 draw at Borough Briggs back in April with Peter Pawlett scoring late on to rescue a point.
From co-manager Jordon Brown:
“It’s good that we are at home again tomorrow so soon after what in the end was a very sore scoreline to finish up with last Saturday. It is always difficult in this cup to come up against full time opposition so soon and we were punished for almost every mistake. However, there were a lot of positives to take away in what was our first competitive outing as a new group again. It is all about a positive reaction tomorrow in what will give us a realistic idea of where we are at in this early stage of the season against a side who continue to strengthen and improve.
Everyone is itching to bounce back and are all looking forward to getting back out there again, we have had 3 good sessions this week and importantly a productive session all together as a group which have been minimal so far with the pre season schedule.
It was clearly a devastating blow on top of the result to lose someone as important as Shanks last weekend but the good news is he is due to have an operation in the coming days and we all hope for a speedy and successful recovery as his goals and contributions will be integral to our success.
Lastly, we would like to pass on our thoughts to Bombers family on his passing today, for guys like myself who have been here long enough to get to know him, he was a special character and well loved by all staff and players who had met him. Everyone involved at Hampden in 2016 against Rangers won’t ever forget him leading us out slowly but proudly!”
