Peterhead v Dumbarton

May 3, 2024

Peterhead are at Balmoor on tomorrow as The Blue Toon welcome Dumbarton for the last league match of the season. Kicking off at 3pm, the two sides are battling for second place; with Peterhead only needing a draw to secure the runners up spot. In the three times the two teams have faced off this season, The Blue Toon have been victorious on two occasions; including a 3-1 win the last time Dumbarton were at Balmoor back in January.

Ahead of Peterhead’s last league match of the 2023/2024 campaign, Ryan Strachan shares his thoughts:

“Last league match of what’s felt a quick season, we’ve put ourselves in a position where we can still get ourselves out of league 2. It’s been a hard season in a really physical league but for the most part we’ve dealt with it ok. Tomorrow will be another physically difficult challenge. Of course we have eyes on Tuesday and the fact we might play the same team but our main focus is on tomorrow’s game and maintaining our positive end to the season. I feel like as a group of new staff and players we’ve coped well this season and the boys deserve some reward for the work they’ve put in. Second place would be a good achievement but the ultimate goal would be promotion.
We’ve given ourselves a chance we now need to execute, the next couple weeks will be critical our form, discipline, decision making on and off te park, rotations for freshness, preparation, injuries, travel, professionalism and also some luck, it all needs to click. The hardest part is bouncing back up leagues; no team has done it straight away so we know we have a major task on our hands. One task we’re excited for. We feel we have a team that would be suited to league 1 and be able to compete.”

Peterhead go into Saturday’s fixture having not lost in their last eight matches; whilst the visitors are unbeaten in their last seven outings.
