Peterhead v East Fife

Mar 15, 2024

Peterhead are back at Balmoor on Saturday as The Blue Toon host East Fife in League 2.

Kicking off at the usual time of 3pm, Peterhead will look to build on the much-improved performance observed last week in a 2-0 victory over Stranraer.

With The Blue Toon having only lost once in their last eight outings, a tough test awaits on Saturday as East Fife are unbeaten in their last five matches; winning three of those. East Fife currently occupy 5th place on 36 points; marginally outside the promotion playoff spots six points behind Dumbarton. With The Spartans hot on Peterhead’s heels trailing by only one point, it’s all to play for on Saturday.

From Ryan Strachan:

“Last week was a satisfying performance, good win and excellent clean sheet, we didn’t ever feel troubled to concede and that is a positive team effort. I felt last week we started the game quick, with intent and good speed and energy all over the park, in the moments we had we showed good quality to take the chances we had and to be honest should of had a couple more. Second half was slightly more even, the opposition get a half time reaction which is expected and also the wind played a big factor on pitch but we contained well and still looked a threat. It’s important we don’t sit on that performance and kick on – that is the level of consistency we require to pick up regular results at this club.

Today’s challenge will be another difficult one. East fife travel to us full of confidence and on a run that will see them push play-off spots after an indifferent start and middle part of their season. They have some really good players at this level and we expect a tough match as always.

Team news, Rory trained during the week and will return to the squad. David Wilson, Kieran gibbons, Conner duthie, Scott Ross miss out. Alfie played for Aberdeen Under 18’s last night and Jordan Armstrong won’t travel due to personal circumstances”.
