Peterhead travel south to New Douglas Park on Saturday where The Blue Toon face Clyde.
After an impressive 2-1 victory over league leaders Stenhousemuir last weekend, Peterhead are aiming to find their form once again to remain in contention for the top spot in league 2. With Peterhead currently occupying second place, The Blue Toon are 25 points ahead of Clyde at the bottom of the league standings; however under new management, the Cumbernauld side will be looking to climb the table.
Ahead of the trip to Clyde, Jordon Brown shares his optimism:
“Last week was a great boost to us all and we have now set a high standard again and have shown we can beat anyone in this league. To put an end to Stennys run shouldn’t be underestimated, but we know the importance of backing it up. Previously on the back of a big result over the last couple of months, we have not been able to back it up with another one or things have been a bit stop-start but that is now the next challenge for our group. We are under no illusions how difficult a game it will be as they have had a lot of changes, even since we last played in December and are fighting for their lives. We have had them watched and have prepared in detail as we normally would and are looking forward to what is always a fixture with an edge to it due to the amount of times we have played each other in the last few seasons. Squad-wise we are delighted to be getting closer and closer to full strength, not including longer term guys Duthie, Gibbons and Jason who are making steady progress. If we are going to keep looking up the way in the league and be secure in the play offs, we must show some consistency from here on in and with no game next weekend we are keen to leave ourselves in as strong a position as possible whilst everyone else plays.”
The Blue Toon have generally basked in the glory in this fixture, coming out victorious in 23 of 41 meetings in all competitions and 3 in their last 5 clashes.
