Peterhead v Dumbarton

Jan 9, 2024

After a brief turnaround from the weekend, Peterhead return to Balmoor tonight where The Blue Toon take on Dumbarton in League 2.

With an evening kick off time of 19:45, Peterhead will aim to dust themselves down after a defeat to The Spartans and find their feet again under the Balmoor lights.

Peterhead have now suffered three successive defeats in League 2 and fall to 3rd place. Tuesday’s opponents also travel to Balmoor off the back of a weekend defeat; succumbing to 6th placed East Fife by two goals to one. With Dumbarton sitting in 4th place, only two points separate Peterhead and Dumbarton. If The Blue Toon pick up points on Tuesday they will leapfrog Spartans and reclaim 2nd place as their own; however should the visitors leave the north east victorious, they will move up into 3rd place with a game in hand.

Head Coach Jamie McNee provides an insight into how a quick turnaround has impacted an injury ridden Peterhead squad as well as who could feature during Tuesday evening’s clash:

“Obviously we’re not on a great run the last few weeks. We’ve been pretty unfortunate with illnesses, injuries, and suspensions recently and it’s probably halted us having any consistency with a regular starting 11 or even the shape and formation we play. Hopefully we will welcome a few new additions in January and everybody will be back to full health so we can really kick on and turn things around. That’s the positive about a midweek game, no time to feel sorry for ourselves, straight back to work.

New signing Peter Pawlett is expected to be involved tomorrow night in some capacity, whether that’s straight in or from the bench is yet to be decided but he will be involved with all the boys certainly.”

Ahead of a vital meeting with Dumbarton, Peterhead welcome the first of their January signings in the shape of Peter Pawlett on a contract until summer 2025. Pawlett has previously had spells at Aberdeen, St Johnstone, MK Dons and most recently Dundee United; winning a Scottish League Cup and Championship title along the way.

As this is a rescheduled game, previously purchased tickets and competition tickets are still valid.
