Peterhead 2 Clyde 1

Dec 19, 2023

Peterhead gained the three points necessary to keep their table top title challenge going but were made to work in an improved second half performance from Clyde.

Jack Brown was the hero early on after just only 1 minute 55 seconds when a Rory McAllister cut back from inside the penalty area was finished with such aplomb from the in-form midfielder. Brown’s first time drive rifled past keeper Leighfield into the back of the net. The Blue Toon created plenty more chances and their style of free flowing attacking football led to the second goal on 32 minutes. Conor O’Keefe found space on left hand side of the park and with a stroke of brilliance cut inside and lobbed Leighfield. His shot hit the net much to the surprise of everyone seeing this moment of great skill.

Clyde made a couple of changes at half time and it was them who gained the upper hand. As the half wore on the home supporters, happy of their lead, felt that their possession was a slight cause for alarm. In one of the forays forward, with just 10 minutes to go, a goalmouth stramash resulted in a wicked deflection and they clawed a goal back. For the last 10 minutes things were a little frantic but The Blue Toon managed the game well and no further scoring occurred.
