The Spartans v Peterhead

Nov 18, 2023

After an action packed week with matches against Stranraer and Stenhousemuir, Peterhead travel to Ainslie Park to face Spartans. With a victory and a defeat to show for their efforts this week, The Blue Toon will look to return to winning ways in Edinburgh. 4th place Spartans currently occupy the last of the play off spots and trail league leaders Peterhead by 5 points. After an impressive run in League 2, Spartans have only suffered defeat to  Stenhousemuir thus far.

Jordon Brown has his say on what will undoubtedly be another tough test for Peterhead:

“I think overall everyone at the club is delighted to see the team still at the top of the league. However, after a great run it was a disappointing set back on Tuesday after the high of finishing the game last Saturday with Joes winner. We knew this week with 2 away games and the next run of games was always going to be a challenge but we have to now show again we have the quality and character to bounce back, starting tomorrow with a game against a strong Spartans team who we are yet to get a result against this season. We have evaluated Tuesdays defeat and worked hard behind the scenes for ways the group can improve the level of performances again that will help us start to look at getting back on another winning run and will look to implement them tomorrow. It is important we look to bounce back as soon as we can as everyone can see how tight the top of this league is going to be.”

As Peterhead hit the road in search of a positive result, Spartans will look to continue their good form against The Blue Toon, with Peterhead suffering 2-1 and 1-0 defeats. With Stenhousemuir now level on points with The Blue Toon at the top of League 2, a Peterhead victory is vital to remain at the top.
