Peterhead v Clachnacuddin FC

Oct 27, 2023

Peterhead return to Balmoor for a 2nd round Scottish Cup tie against Clachnacuddin with a 3pm kick off on Saturday.

With both teams having their matches postponed last weekend, both sides will be well rested and well prepared for the clash.

Clachnacuddin currently sit 17th in the Highland League after a winless start to their league campaign. The Inverness side are not to be overlooked however as their historic success has seen them lift the Highland League trophy a record 18 times.

Coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Dundee United and a postponed match against Stenhousemuir, Ryan Strachan’s side return to Balmoor in search of a positive cup result:

“Off the back of our first defeat in 5 competitive games against Dundee United it’s important the players and staff don’t reflect on it too much, our domestic form has been great and they can’t forget that. Against opposition who play the sport for a living, multiple leagues and places ahead it’s always a tall order but we competed for the vast majority even in difficult first half conditions. We’ve came a long way and the players should be proud but we try to reiterate we’ve only made a good start. Clachnacuddin will be hard working, resolute and set up well, I know Conor from his time here at Peterhead so it will be good to engage with him again and see how his team sets up against us, we expect a competitive game and will not underestimate them. We have prepared well with a week to rest some legs and Saturday will present an opportunity for a few changes as we still have some outstanding niggles so we won’t take any risks. Any time there is a cup tie it’s about advancing to the next round and we as a club want to do that and put on a great performance for those who come to watch us. It’s important we stick to our game and control the elements presented and I’m sure we will give a good account of ourselves.”

Peterhead will look to continue their positive domestic form and return to winning ways at Balmoor, coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Dundee United and a fixture against Stenhousemuir postponed due to weather.
