Peterhead welcome Dundee United to Balmoor on Saturday in the 4th round of the SPFL Trust Trophy.
With a later than usual kickoff time of 5:30pm, The Blue Toon will look for revenge after Dundee United claimed all 3 points in the ViaPlay cup earlier in the season.
In the previous round of the SPFL Trust Trophy, Peterhead overcame League 1 opposition Annan Athletic whilst Dundee United put 3 past Dunfermline Athletic to progress.
Past meetings with the Championship club have mostly gone in the Tangerine’s favour, with The Blue Toon last running out victorious when the sides met in 2020 in the league cup with a 1-0 scoreline.
Despite the visitors being favourites to go all the way in the competition and with a tough test awaiting, Jordon Brown remains optimistic on Saturday’s clash:
“Really looking forward to a good home cup tie against the highest ranked team left in the competition in front of our ever growing support; which was outstanding last week and helped the boys pull through a challenging afternoon. Balmoor under the lights on a Saturday night will be new to us all but we are sure the atmosphere will be excellent again. It’s a game that comes on the back of an excellent winning run and we have earned the right to be in this tie with 2 good away cup results too. A completely different challenge against full time opposition looking to be a Premier League club again, but with it being a late kick off and on TV we are hopeful the consistency and togetherness of the squad can continue to grow with a different expectation sitting on the game. We have worked hard all week on a way to approach the game and have full belief the boys will relish and enjoy the occasion, with the huge reward of a quarter final place at stake. On the team news front, Andy McCarthy and Rory McAllister picked up knocks last week and we will need to assess before the game.”
Going into the tie, both sides sit top of their respective leagues with Peterhead occupying first place in League 2 and Dundee United leading the Championship.
