Peterhead travel South to Dumbarton on Saturday to face the joint league leaders in a 3pm kick off at The Rock. They currently occupy 3rd place, decided on goal difference as Bonnyrigg, Stenhousemuir and Stranraer all have 11 points alongside Dumbarton. Although in 5th place, The Blue Toon are hot on their heels and only one point behind.
After a Shanks penalty sealed the win for Peterhead over Bonnyrigg Rose last weekend, a positive result for Peterhead this weekend would see The Blue Toon climb the League 2 table.
Player-manager Jordon Brown gives us an insight ahead of the Dumbarton clash:
“Another very tough away trip for us in what has been a testing few weeks, travelling and opponents-wise. We are looking to build on a great ending to the game last week and that should help with confidence and momentum. Everyone can see how tight the league is going to be but this will be one of the toughest tests against a team with arguably one of the strongest squads, full of experience in this league. We are relishing that challenge and need to keep showing that our squad is improving and gelling week on week. Rory has settled in off the pitch like he’s never been away and on the pitch I think we can all see not just his partnership with Shanks, but his influence on the others is driving performances up with the competition for places all over the pitch – exactly what we will need to be successful. That was evident with the impact the substitutes made last week and that is a credit to the overall attitude and togetherness within the group.”
The two sides have shared success in previous meetings; with 14 Dumbarton wins, 15 Peterhead wins and 2 draws in 31 fixtures. The Blue Toon have taken the spotlight in recent years however as Peterhead have secured a victory in 3 of their last 5 meetings; with Dumbarton only coming out on top once.
