Peterhead FC return to league action on Saturday, facing Bonnyrigg Rose for the first time at Balmoor for a 3pm kickoff. The Blue Toon are still on the search for their first home win of the season; and after an impressive 2-0 win over League 1 opponents Annan Athletic last weekend, Peterhead will look to replicate their previous performance.
Three teams currently sit at the top of the League 2 standings level on points, however Bonnyrigg lead the race on goal difference after an unbeaten start to the season.
Player-manager Ryan Strachan shares his thoughts ahead of the Bonnyrigg clash:
“It was great to advance in a cup tie and set up probably the most glamour tie within the draw, another good outing for us and our supporters to enjoy and look forward to. Our performance last week merited progression. We were great from start to finish, we were defensively more compact back in a more familiar shape and looked a threat everytime we went forward. I thought the scoreline was fair.
Tomorrow we’re back on home property and it’s time to take our away form to our home support to enjoy. We expect a solid Bonnyrigg team, high in confidence to show up so it will be a tough test. It’s always hard to change a winning team so we have a lot of focus on repetition but there are guys who have been rested due to knocks, played every minute or needing a spell on the side so last week’s result has given us a pleasing headache. We have everyone available for squad selection apart from Kieran Gibbons who was getting close to a return but fell victim to covid 10 days ago so has spent some time at home recovering.”
Still on the search for a home victory, The Blue Toon will look to put a stop to their poor home record as well as Bonnyrigg Rose’ unbeaten one.
