Clyde v Peterhead

Aug 18, 2023

Peterhead are aiming to get their second league win of the season tomorrow away to Clyde. Co-Manager Ryan Strachan stressed that whilst it was an encouraging performance on Tuesday night against Aberdeen, it is important that the players stay focussed on picking up points in the league.

He said “Tuesday night was a good result for us and it’s great that we are through to the next round of the cup but our league form is more important and we must stay focussed as promotion is our main aim. Clyde will be no pushovers and they, like us, will be itching to gain promotion again just like we are”

Fans will remember our duels with Clyde last season often being tight affairs with very little between the sides. Having bolstered the squad in the summer The Blue Toon travel in confidence knowing that they are in a much better position with their firepower with goals coming from all over the field.

Andy McCarthy grabbed his first of the season on Tuesday night, Scott Ross scored with a header as well as a brace from Jordon Brown. Kieran Shanks added to his tally for the season too so being in a goal scoring mood and having competition for starting berths can only be healthy for the team.

Tomorrow’s match will be played at New Douglas Park in Hamilton as Clyde are ground sharing for the second season after their departure from Broadwood last year.
