Aberdeen B v Peterhead

Aug 15, 2023

Peterhead face Aberdeen Reserves at North Lodge Park in the Challenge Cup on this evening, KO 7.30pm.

Facing a full time squad, The Blue Toon will be eager to maintain their perfect defensive form in the league whilst replicating the attacking performance seen away at East Fife.

Player manager Ryan Strachan looks ahead to our cup match:

“We’re keen to move on from Saturday, it wasn’t a performance we have become used to the last month or so, we looked void of ideas second half with a strong wind. The Stenhousemuir press made us apprehensive in our approach and willingness to play our game that we want to play, credit to stenhousemuir they were well set up.
It’s great to have games in quick succession and against a full time group on a good pitch. Of course we will freshen things up and we have a squad we trust – some need minutes desperately and we also need to protect some players who are carrying knocks.
Conner Duthie remains missing and had his scan yesterday. Kieran Gibbons is still out but is getting ever closer. Aaron Reid is cup tied for both and he will represent the winner in the next round.”

Whilst Peterhead will no doubt field a starting XI capable of winning the match at Pitmedden, the Challenge Cup poses a great opportunity for reintegrating players back into the team and encourages competition amongst an already competitive squad.
