East Fife v Peterhead

Aug 5, 2023

Peterhead FC travel to Methil today where The Blue Toon take on East Fife in the first game of the cinch League 2 campaign.

After an early exit from the Viaplay League Cup, Peterhead will look to take all 3 points home after only picking up 1 in the cup. Previous meetings with East Fife have proved narrow competition with Peterhead finishing victorious 19 times, compared to today’s opponents with 18 wins in the fixture.

Player manager Jordon Brown has his say as his side look to improve their run of form and kickstart their league campaign:

“I think the majority of pre season and the cup, despite not quite getting results has been positive and we have tried hard to maintain that within the group. We have come a long way since the end of the season and with being together for 6 weeks has allowed us to build and hopefully we see the fruition of that in the league season ahead.
The mood within the camp is definitely positive as touched on above considering how new the group is, and probably as positive a feel as there has been about the club for years however we need results to maintain that and back it up. Supporters have been great and Ryan and I aim to give them a team that is challenging and that they enjoy coming to watch and support week in, week out.
To get our business done so early was a massive plus for us and has allowed us to have a solid foundation with almost 2 players competing for every position. That breeds high standards throughout and again we hope to see the benefit of that as the season starts. The dressing room is a huge asset to us and the boys have gelled well on and off the pitch.

Our goals will of course stay internal however we know the size of this club and with the backing and support of the board/backroom staff that we must come out this transition period stronger and pushing to drive a winning mentality throughout the club and looking up the way.”

The Blue Toon will look to make a positive start to the league campaign with a strong away performance and take home the points to match.
