Dundee United v Peterhead match preview

Jul 21, 2023

The Blue Toon head south to Tannadice Park on Saturday to face Dundee United in the group stages of the ViaPlay League Cup. Peterhead currently sit 4th in Group B ahead of Dundee United.

Following a positive performance at Balmoor last week against a well-organised Partick Thistle side, Peterhead were unlucky not to come away with all 3 points. The two teams shared a point each with Partick Thistle taking home an additional bonus point after a lengthy penalty shootout ended in Partick’s favour. Co-manager Jordon Brown looks ahead to Saturday’s match: “Everyone in the squad is excited to test ourselves again away at an established full-time Championship club and we are looking to maintain the levels of performance shown. For us it’s all about trying to continue to implement how we want to play and building momentum ready to start the league at our highest level. There’s a lot of noise around Dundee United at the moment but we will go there with our own game plan and keep the focus of the group on keeping our own standards high. It is a great day out for our fans and I am sure we will have a good number down and will look to do them proud and ourselves justice.”

Peterhead will be looking to gain the edge over The Terrors who face The Blue Toon after two losses to Partick Thistle and Spartans; leaving them rock bottom of the group with 0 points. Facing a no doubt hungry Dundee United side, Peterhead will look to capitalise on their opposition’s poor run of form in the cup and come back up north with all 3 points; as done back in 2020 when Peterhead ran out 1-0 winners.
