Peterhead FC are delighted to announce that we’ve agreed terms for the signing of striker Kieran Shanks from Championship club Arbroath FC for an undisclosed fee, subject to Scottish FA clearance on a two-year contract.
The 21-year-old joins permanently from the Gayfield Park outfit after netting three goals from 17 appearances on loan at the Blue Toon in the second half of the 2022-2023 season.
Shanks came through the youth system at Aberdeen FC where he was at Pittodrie for eight years before joining Highland League side Inverurie Locos in 2020, scoring 30 goals in 44 starts. The forward also netted on three occasions for Arbroath including in the Championship against Inverness CT and Queens Park.
Peterhead FC Co-Manager Jordon Brown was thrilled to get another key target through the Balmoor door saying: “A striker has been a priority for us but Kieran has been a priority ever since the season finished, we’ve worked hard daily behind the scenes to get the deal over the line so that shows the belief we have in him.”
“The club has been lacking a striker over the past few years, it’s so important as we haven’t scored enough goals over the past few years, we believe that Kieran can be our main man and score goals to be successful at this club.”
For Shanks, he is looking forward to successful times at the club when he said, “I’m buzzing to get the deal completed and over the line and I can’t wait for next season, I enjoyed my time even though it was a tough time last season.”
“I feel like the club really wanted me and I want to repay them, all I want to do is to play and show everyone that I can score goals, I am excited for the challenge and want to help the club be successful.”
Everyone at Peterhead FC is delighted that Kieran is here at Balmoor for two years and look forward to working with him on a permanent basis.
