Davie Robertson used his Tuesday evening off productively to watch tomorrow’s opponents Dunfermline Athletic. With training at Balmoor cancelled due to snow on the pitch, the Peterhead gaffer made the trip to Fife to see the Pars record a 2-0 win over Falkirk.
Despite the defeat at Falkirk last weekend, Robertson fully believes in the Blue Toon to start picking up points in the coming weeks as we approach the business end of the season.
He said, “It was good to see Dunfermline up close, we’ve played against them once in my time in charge down there so it was good to have a look at them. There was obviously disappointment within the group after the result at Falkirk last Saturday, for long spells we were up against it and had to defend for large periods.
“We’ve always got a chance in games and that chance is better whenever we’re at home, the players are on the right track but you have to remember that Dunfermline, Falkirk, and Airdrieonians are tough teams to play at this time of the season.
“We need to make sure we try and pick up points in the next couple of games, we didn’t get any against Falkirk and it’s important to stay as close to Clyde and hopefully try and pull above them in the table. The players know that we’re getting there, it was always going to be tough against Falkirk after getting a draw with Kelty.
“I know we’ll bounce back regardless of defeats. Dunfermline are an experienced team and different from Falkirk. Dunfermline are a workmanlike team who don’t batter teams but get results and that’s the hard part.
“Maybe after Saturday’s result, not having training on Tuesday was good for reflection and spending time away from each other before coming back last night with the lads right at it ready for the game tomorrow. All the lads want to do well for the club.”
Leyton Bisland is the only absentee for tomorrow’s match due to picking up an injury with parent club Dundee United. Jordon Brown is nearly a full return to action following his recent injury.
