Airdrieonians v Peterhead match preview

Nov 12, 2022

Peterhead manager Jim McInally is tempted to give midfielder Andrew McCarthy his first start of the season when his side takes on Airdrieonians in Lanarkshire. McCarthy has been used as a substitute in the Blue Toon’s last two games as he makes his way back to full fitness following an ankle injury with Balmoor boss McInally saying: “This could be the game to give Andrew a go from the start. He adds value to our team but I have to get the balance right to ensure he does not suffer a set-back.” The former Partick Thistle and Queen of the South player could play from the first whistle as Florent Hoti advised manager McInally on Thursday that he would be joining Arbroath with the Peterhead chief saying: “We knew this could happen when we gave Florent a platform. He came in and did well in his first trial game and we hoped to have him here for the three and perhaps longer. That would have allowed us to build Andrew’s game time however it is not to be.” The free from suspension Julien Carre is another possibility for a midfield slot with McInally adding: “I have options, which is good, as there has been times this season that has not been the case. Whoever we go with will know that we are in for a very hard game. Airdrie’s 4-0 win over Montrose a couple of weeks ago and their doggedness to get a result at Clyde last Saturday tells you that.” “I also believe that their display up at our place earlier in the season was the best I have seen from an opposing team. We need to show that we have improved since then and show the form we displayed against Edinburgh City and in the first half last weekend at Montrose.” “If we can play like that then we can get something.”
Team News – Julien Carre is available after a one match suspension and Max Gillies is available after illness with Andrew McDonald back in manager McInally’s squad following an injury. David Wilson has picked up a knock and misses out with Paul Dixon, Cody McLeod, Russell McLean, Hamish Ritchie and Ola Adeyemo remaining on the side-lines. Chris Kisuka left the club by mutual consent this week with Florent Hoti’s trial period coming to an end after he signed a permanent deal with Championship side Arbroath.
