Peterhead Football Club are delighted to advise that attacking midfielder Hamish Ritchie has agreed to extend his stay at Balmoor until the end of season 2023/ 24. Hamish joined the Blue Toon, initially on loan, from Highland League side Inverurie Locos in March 2021 before becoming a permanent signing that summer after scoring four times in 11 games during his temporary spell. The 25-year-old added another 40 appearances for the club to his total and also found the net on another six occasions including a terrific goal in a 3-0 success at Clyde last season. Unfortunately, Hamish suffered a knee injury against Aberdeen in the opening game of this campaign that required surgery recently and having the new contract in place will allow the Aberdeen born player to concentrate fully on his recovery. Hamish said: “The extension to my contract has come at a great time for me. I can concentrate fully on getting fit again without having to worry about my footballing future. I know what I need to do to get back and I can do that without thinking about rushing back in a bid to prove myself.” “My knee is getting stronger all the time and I am now working with the club physio three times a week for it to get even stronger. My target is to have a full pre-season behind me and build on that.” Watching from the side-lines has been frustrating for Hamish who added: “I have been injured before but never for as long as this and never to this extent. It is frustrating watching the team and not being able to help them get results.”
