Peterhead manager Jim McInally is hoping that his pursuit of new talent to bring to the club will pay off this week with the capture of two further players with the possibility of further signings coming in shortly afterwards with loan deals still in the offing. Jim has watched players from Scotland, England, Africa and Europe in the past two weeks in a bid to add to the Blue Toon squad and whilst his patience has been tested, he is hopeful that he will soon see the fruits of his labours. The Balmoor boss said: “We have had to do an unusual amount of recruitment this summer so I have had to look at unfamiliar ways to secure players that I believe have the quality to improve our squad.” “During preseason we had trialists in from Scotland and England as well as mainland Europe and the quality level I was looking for was not always there. Some boys trained and others were given games to show what they can do but I was determined not to bring in bodies to make up the numbers even when we had a horrible time with injuries.” “Over the past couple of weeks as well as monitoring the Scottish market I have spread the net even further and been at games involving players from England, Africa and Holland. There were a few gems at these games and we have noted interest in them.” “That interest could be firmed up this week and I am hopeful of having two in with the possibility of one more in the next week or so. These signings would be on top of looking to secure the loan deals we were discussing last week.”
