Peterhead striker Russell McLean underwent surgery last Friday on a niggly knee issue with Balmoor manager Jim McInally hoping that the 24-year-old will be back in action before the first quarter of League 1 games finishes.
‘Rusty’ who was the Blue Toon’s top goalscorer last season with 15 goals has not played since the 1-1 draw with Dumbarton on April 9 this year with Jim saying: “Russell had a procedure carried out a few days ago and it looks to have gone well. There is a chance that he could be available again in six weeks which would be fantastic but we will not rush him as there is a lot of football still to be played after that date.”
