Peterhead manager Jim McInally was delighted for his entire squad that Falkirk were seen off 1-0 at Balmoor on Saturday however he felt extra joy for goalscorer Jack Brown.

Jim explained: “I am pleased for all the players that they got what they deserved on Saturday. They have been a credit to themselves in recent weeks in terms of their fitness and application and sticking to how we believe the game should be played despite a disappointing run of results.”

“A few of them have been getting unnecessary criticism on social media in recent weeks. Whilst it is easy to say that can be shrugged off, you can never be sure how it will affect a young player. However, I have to say that the supporters at Balmoor at the weekend were fantastic. They got right behind the boys and it was mentioned in the dressing room afterwards about how positive the backing was.”

“There is still work to be done but it was great to have the fans and the players smiling again after a game.”

As for January recruit Brown Jim said: “I am really pleased that Jack got a goal. He came in from Rothes a few weeks ago and he has impressed everyone at training. Taking what we have seen in training into games has taken a bit of time but it now looks like he has made the step-up to senior football.”

“He remained calm at his goal and he remained calm with the second chance he had later on. Like many I thought it was over the line and it would have been good to go into the final half hour with a two-goal cushion.”

“Jack had a disappointment earlier in his career when Inverness Caledonian Thistle released him. When he came here, he knew that he had a second chance at senior football and so far, he is doing everything he can to take it.”
