The Peterhead players will be asked to rise to the challenge that faces them against third top visitors Montrose this afternoon at Balmoor as opposed to avoiding looking at it according to manager Jim McInally.
The Blue Toon boss explained: “We know where we are in the league and the only way we are going to stop negative talk being directed at us is to put points on board and climb the table from the eighth place we presently sit in. We have not gained the points a lot of our displays have deserved and we cannot ignore the challenge we face.”
“Rather than ignoring it I want our players to embrace it. I am sure that they will as despite being quite a young group there is a lot of positivity amongst them. I want them to go out and keep playing like they have been playing but meet the challenge of scoring more goals and securing more points starting against Montrose.”
The Gable Endies will be feisty opponents with Jim adding: “It has been a while sine we have got the better of them. Too long a period I would suggest. They are a good side with a good manager who will be in the play-offs for promotion come the end of the season.”
“They will want to secure their place as soon as possible so that is why this game will be important to them. Our games against each other seem to be very different depending on the venue. At Links Park there always appears to be goals whereas at Balmoor the games are usually very tight.”
“I am not sure why that is but all that matters today is us scoring one more than them
Team news – Peterhead will have more attacking options available as Niah Payne and on-loan Aberdeen youngster Ryan Duncan are both available again. Goalkeeper Lenny Wilson has recovered from his jaw injury however he joined Highland League side Brora Rangers on an Emergency 7-day loan earlier this week.

Injuries continue to rule out David Wilson, Jason Brown and player/coach Simon Ferry with Ryan Conroy and Owen Cairns both major doubts with knocks picked up in training this week.
