Queen’s Park v Peterhead Match Preview – ‘Move on to Firhill’

Mar 1, 2022

Peterhead boss Jim McInally has told his players to ‘move on’ from their disappointing second half display against Dumbarton at the weekend and be ready to face a Queen’s Park side who will be looking to boost their promotion campaign at Firhill

The Blue Toon were three up against ten men at the break on Saturday but ended up winning only 4-3 against nine men at the end of the 90 minutes.

Jim said: “There is no doubt we were slack in the second half and switched off. Dumbarton really went for it attacking wise after the break and we never really capitalised on that. However, we won and it was a big three points when you look at the other results on the day.”

“However, the players played really well in the first 45 minutes and had played well in the previous three or four games so we will concentrate on those positives and move on.”

“We are facing a Queen’s Park side that will believe that they have had too many draws this season. They very rarely lose games but they did lose one to us up at Balmoor the last time we played them and we need to play as well just as well as we did that day to do anything at Firhill.

“They have some very good young players on loan from big clubs and our youngsters will have to match up to them. If we can stop their top players playing, then we have a chance of getting another three points.”

“There has been a lot said about the pitch at Firhill recently and I have been told that the surface is far from ideal. If that is the case it will hurt both teams as we both look to pass the ball about, we will just need to adapt to what we find when we get there.”

Team News –

Manager Jim McInally could be short of attacking options as both Russell McLean and Ryan Duncan are set to be absent.

Lenny Wilson, David Wilson, Jason Brown, Gary Fraser and player/coach Simon Ferry also remain on the side-lines due to injury.
