Jim has ins and potential outs to consider

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has problems of the right and wrong kind to wrestle with ahead of Saturday’s League 1 match with Alloa at Balmoor.

The Blue Toon boss has potentially three players returning from injury as well as new recruit Jack Brown looking for a start alongside fellow January signings Conor Cullen, Owen Cairns and Rico Quitongo however four players did not train last night due to knocks.

Jim said: “I am delighted to say that Alan Cook and Ryan Conroy both fully trained on Tuesday. They have been back in for a few sessions now however they were working flat out last night and will be in the squad for the weekend.”

Skipper Scott Brown could also return with Jim adding: “Scott looks to be over the ankle problem that has kept him out for the last couple of weeks. He trained as well and he will come back into things on Saturday if there is no adverse reaction in the next couple of days.”

“Conor, Owen, Rico and Jack have fully settled in. Conor is being patient just now as Brett Long is playing well however Owen and Rico got a taste of action at East Fife last weekend and showed that they will add value to the squad. Jack is a player, and I will have no hesitation in using him either from the start or off the bench on Saturday, and what role he plays will depend on the injuries we have picked up.”

“Simon Ferry did not train and is unlikely to be involved on Saturday. Andrew McCarthy and Russell McLean joined Hamish Ritchie in sitting out due to knocks which we believe are minor but not worth putting at risk.”

“It could well be Saturday before I can get to work on what my line-up will be for Alloa.”
