Peterhead manager Jim McInally is well aware that a Scottish Cup ‘shock’ has been predicted when his team hosts Lowland League East Kilbride and he has done all he can to guard against it.
The Balmoor boss heard Radio pundits talked about Peterhead being a potential home for an upset this week, and was expecting it as opposed to being disappointed by it, as he explained: “I knew as soon as people started talking about shocks our tie would come up. It has all the hallmarks of one as we are at home against an ambitious side with nothing to lose. East Kilbride also have a lot of experienced players including Jamie Stevenson who we know very well, and their players have played more senior football than our players, so I can see why it was getting discussed.”
“We knew it was a difficult tie as soon as the draw was made and I said at the time that they would fancy winning it and we would fancy winning it as well. We have done our homework since getting drawn against each other. I watched East Kilbride in action between Christmas and New Year and we also had someone at their game last weekend that was won 5-4.”
“My thoughts are still the same, both of us will go into the game thinking we can win.”
