Keeper Conor Cullen comes on board

Peterhead are set to add goalkeeper Conor Cullen to their ranks with the one-time Celtic youth shot-stopper being brought on board to challenge Brett Long for a starting jersey and also to ensure Lenny Wilson can take his time to recover fully from his jaw injury.

Cullen who played in the Challenge Cup for the Parkhead club moved onto Partick Thistle in July 2017 and he is joining the Blue Toon after spells at West of Scotland League clubs Cambuslang Rangers and Drumchapel United.

Sean Diamond has returned to Broughty Athletic at the end of his loan spell and 24-year-old Cullen will be in the pool to face Clyde this weekend if his registration is completed by the Scottish Football Association with Balmoor manager Jim McInally saying: “Conor has a very good pedigree in football and has also gained experience at various levels of the game. He has signed on until the end of the season and I expect him to push Brett all the way in terms of showing who should be first choice in the same way that Lenny did.”

“Having Conor here means that we do not need to worry about a loan goalkeeper being recalled and that is good as I also wanted to ensure that no pressure was put on Lenny to come back after his jaw injury. He will be out for three months and he will be given that to fully recover.”

“Our thanks go to Sean and Broughty Athletic who helped us out in the last month.”
