10 x 10 game keeps players sharp

Peterhead started their preparation for Saturday’s visit of East Fife with a 10 versus 10 game at training last night to make sure everyone is as sharp as possible for the Fifers.

Manager Jim McInally explained his decision to get a football out and let the players play by saying: “Simon Ferry is fit again but needs match practice before going back into the side and we had a couple of trialists in so the numbers were good. Also Saturday’s game with Clyde was very tight and we only used one substitute as a result, so there were a good numbers of boys wanting to get playing.”

“We played that for about an hour and the standard was really good so it was a fine way to start the week.”

Jim looked back at the 2-2 draw at Broadwood and said: “I thought we played well and I was delighted with how we stood up to things when we lost our two goal lead in the second half. The only negative thing I have spoken to the boys about is that we were a bit naive at their goals.”

“We were two up four minutes into injury time at half-time and had a throw in. We pushed players forward for it and then lost the ball and that resulted in a penalty. If we had sat tight then that may not have happened. Their second came from our corner and we need to learn from that situation as well.”
