The ‘Blue Toon Cafu’, Josh Mulligan, is taking inspiration from Peterhead’s 3-2 win over Clyde earlier this season as Jim McInally’s side travel to Broadwood this Saturday.
The Balmoor side’s success over the Bully Wee came in one of their performances of the season, with goals coming from Andy McCarthy, Scott Brown, and Russell McLean.
Mulligan wants the same again as he said: “That win will give us a lot of confidence going into this game. Hopefully we can put on a good performance and get the three points”.
A win could see McInally’s side rise as high as 6th in the table and just as importantly open up a four-point gap on their hosts ahead of the festive period.
On-loan Dundee defender or midfielder Mulligan said: “Every game is a massive game. We need to win as many as we can, especially against teams that are lower than us in the league. We’ve got to go there and put on a good show, hopefully we can do that and move further up the table”.
Peterhead are coming off the back of a strong Scottish Cup performance against Lowland League outfit Civil Service Strollers, where the Balmoor side came out 3-0 winners despite fears of Storm Arwen disrupting the match.
Mulligan missed the game due to a chest infection but knows the boys put in a shift at Christie Gillies Park as he added: “I wasn’t actually at the game, but I heard we played well. We had a few good chances, missed a penalty and overall, it was a strong performance.”
Mulligan hopes to return to action from the start at Broadwood as he said: “I have fully recovered and breathing a lot easier. Hopefully I will slot back in.”
Peterhead’s reward for seeing off Civil Service is a home time with another Lowland League side, East Kilbride who include a couple of former Scotland internationals amongst their ranks, as well as former Peterhead fullback Jamie Stevenson.
Mulligan is expecting a physical match come January with the recently turned 19-year-old saying: “I don’t know too much about them but I know some of the names and I’m sure it’ll be a tough game. I am sure that they’ll be a physical side, so we definitely need to be up for that game.”
