Peterhead manager Jim McInally is hoping that two of three Blue Toon players out with short-term injuries will be available to face Montrose this weekend.
Ryan Conroy missed Saturday’s goalless draw with Falkirk due to an ankle injury picked up against Alloa the week before with Simon Ferry (hamstring) and Niah Payne (ankle) limping off against the Bairns.
Jim said: “Ryan came up and did some training on Tuesday night so there is some progress there. We will need to wait and see if there is any reaction. If he is pain free over the next couple of days then he could be in my plans for our next game.”

“Simon felt tightness in both of his hamstrings against Falkirk and we managed to get him off before he caused too much damage. He will take things easy this week and hopefully that could have him ready.”

The news about striker Payne is not so good with Jim saying: “Niah’s ankle was swollen on Saturday and there is still some swelling there so he will not be doing any training this week. The best we can hope for is that he will be ready for the following week when we travel to Airdrie.”
“If we could get two of the three in the squad for Montrose that would be good. They are a good side who are playing well, scoring goals and winning games just now. Their manager Stewart Petrie is always respectful about us as opponents so they will be coming to our place ready for a tough game.”

Please Note
The fixture between Montrose and Peterhead , originally scheduled for Boxing Day has been brought forward to Wednesday 22nd December with a 7:45pm ko at the request of both clubs.
A Montrose spokesperson said: “Given the huge impact that social distancing and self isolation has had on all of us over the past 20 months, we wanted to afford our players and staff the opportunity for an extended break with their loved ones over the festive period.”
“Montrose FC are extremely grateful to the SPFL and Peterhead FC for their understanding and co-operation in agreeing to accommodate this request.”
