Ferry a major doubt with boss set to add

Peterhead player/ coach Simon Ferry is a major doubt for tomorrow’s visit to table-topping Queen’s Park.

Whilst fears that the 33 year old had suffered a knee injury in last weekend’s game against Cove Rangers, that would have seen the 33 year old side-lined for several weeks, have eased manager Jim McInally is in two minds about rushing Ferry back.

Jim said: “Simon turned with the ball last Saturday and unfortunately his knee did not like the move. He was in a bit of pain and we were concerned that something major had gone wrong.”

“Thankfully that does not appear to be the case and he is not in as much pain. Knowing Simon as I do he will want to play against Queen’s Park but at the moment it looks like being a risk.”

“I will give him until close to kick-off time and decide what is best for Simon and the team.”

Meanwhile the Blue Toon are hoping to add an experienced defender from north-east football to their squad before kick-off at Firhill however the mystery man is unlikely to start against the Spiders.

Jim said: “We have had a defender in training with us for a few weeks. He is a free agent and we have had positive discussions. There is an issue to be sorted out with his former club and if that happens in the manner expected he should be free to sign in the next couple of days.”

“He could even make the Queen’s Park game however he has not played competitively for a while so will need to build his game time up.”
