Boss praises Flynn for mature debut

The debut performance of on-loan Dundee United teenager Flynn Duffy in Saturday’s League 1 encounter with Cove Rangers has been praised by Blue Toon boss Jim McInally.

The Balmoor manager said: “I had liked what I had seen from Flynn in training and when I was planning for the Cove game I decided to put him up against Fraser Fyvie. When you consider the difference in experience it was a big ask of Flynn to keep Fraser quiet but he did that.”

“Flynn played with a lot of maturity and he can take a lot of heart from his display. We only took him off towards the end as he was tiring which was no surprise as he has not played a lot of football recently.”

Jim reckons that Flynn does not need to look far for inspiration as he added: “I was working for BBC Scotland at the Dundee United and Dundee game on Sunday and I was delighted to see Kieran Freeman come on midway through the second half for United. He played really well and he was able to dip into the experience of playing for Peterhead last season.”

“I am sure Flynn will look at Kieran’s progress and want the same.”
