Peterhead manager Jim McInally has advised that he expects goal-grabber Russell ‘Rusty’ McLean to be fully over the knee problem that saw him reduced to a substitute role last weekend. In typical ‘Rusty’ fashion the towering striker marked his entrance to last Saturday’s game with Airdrie with a goal in the 25 minutes he played.
Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop the Blue Toon going down 3-2 however the 23-year-old could start at East Fife in Peterhead’s next League 1 encounter.
Jim said: “I am pleased to say that Russell trained fully earlier this week and has shown no adverse reaction. Playing him from the start last weekend could have aggravated the injury so we kept him in reserve and fair play to him he came on and gave us a spark.”
“Provided he is pain free after Thursday’s training session he will be in my thoughts for East Fife.”
